Africa-Press – Angola. Two hundred and 20 long-distance runners are taking part Saturday, in this city, in the 36th edition of the National Cross Country Championship, in the youth, junior and senior levels, for both sexes.
Approves, to take place in the tourist complex of Nossa Senhora do Monte, on the outskirts of Lubango, will be carried out in a route of seven kilometers, for juveniles, in males, and four kilometers, in females.
For male juniors, eight kilometers, while for females, six kilometers. Senior men and women will run 10 kilometers.
The competition will feature athletes from the provinces of Huíla, Namibe, Luanda, Cuanza Sul, Huambo and Bié.
This Thursday, in Lubango, the secretary of the Provincial Athletics Association, Augusto Seco, informed that Huíla will participate with 197 athletes, 140 of which from the Okuhateca project, representing the 14 municipalities.
The previous edition, run over ten kilometers, individually, in the municipality of Palanca, in the municipality of Humpata, was won by athletes from Interclube.
In men’s, the victory fell to David Elias, when he cut the finish line in 35 minutes, 47 seconds and 30 tenths, while in women, Ernestina Paulino won, with a time of 40 minutes, 47 seconds and 56 tenths.
