Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, pointed out this Wednesday the growth of the manufacturing industry and the commerce sector as one of the main priorities of the sector for the year 2023.

According to the official, these sectors showed levels of growth in 2022 and, for 2023, the objective is to stimulate the non-oil manufacturing industry, with a view to boosting employment and a better participation in the generation of wealth in the country.

Speaking on the sidelines of the end-of-year greetings ceremony by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes said that after several years, in 2022 Angola will see an upward trajectory for the national economy.

“We have the food processing industry as a top priority and we guarantee a business environment capable of attracting investments and that encourages businessmen to assume responsibility for job creation”, asserted the government official.

According to the minister, the food processing industry has particularly grown, indicating that the non-oil sector is showing progress, which configures the ideal path for the development of a country.

In this regard, among other facilities, the minister pointed out the acquisition of the Commercial Permit, from the municipalities, without any need to travel to the ministry’s headquarters, which translates into the simplification of commercial activity.

Asked about the national export balance, outside the oil sector, he considered it to be in deficit, despite the increase in national production, especially in terms of food products.

Victor Fernandes thanked workers at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and supervisory bodies for another year of work and asked for greater commitment to materialize the country’s economic development and diversification.
