Africa-Press – Angola. The National Institute for the Fight against AIDS (INLS) on Thursday honored the Vice President of Angola, Esperança da Costa, and the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.
The tribute, which was held as part of the institute’s 20th anniversary celebrations, recognized their contributions to the prevention and combating of the disease.
Ana Dias Lourenço has implemented the national campaign “Born Free to Shine,” which was launched in December 2018 in Luena, Moxico Province. The campaign’s main objective is to reduce mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS.
The campaign prioritizes issues faced by countries across the continent and reinforces the political commitment of African nations to reducing maternal and child mortality.
Currently, the program assists more than 3,000 women across the country.
During the ceremony, Health Minister Sílvia Lutucuta and Education Minister Luísa Grilo were also honored for their contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
