Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Ndalatando (capital of Cuanza Norte province) this Monday hosted the official launch of the complete poetic work of António Agostinho Neto, first president of Angola, in an initiative of the Brigada Jovem de Literatura.
The work, officially launched on September 17, 2022, by the Agostinho Neto Foundation, as part of the centenary celebrations of its patron, arrives in Cuanza Norte as part of initiatives to immortalize the author’s deeds and writings, above all, among the youth .
When presenting the work, at Liceu Eiffel in Ndalatando, teacher Ornelas Capaxi highlighted Agostinho Neto’s commitment to the development and promotion of culture, as factors that characterize him as the father of literature and Angola’s greatest poet.
The lecturer considered the complete work of Agostinho Neto as a manual that integrates several writings by the author, who is also considered as the founder of the Angolan Nation.
He pointed out Agostinho Neto as a man of many facets, who, alongside medicine and politics, was committed to promoting and preserving Angola’s cultural identity, in the national and international context, factors that led to the translation of his works into several foreign languages.
In the end, the students felt better informed about the accomplishments and contribution of Agostinho Neto in the context of Angolan culture and literature and highlighted the permanent topicality that characterize his works.
The moment was also marked by the exhibition of more than 300 copies of Neto’s complete work, sold at the price of 3,500 kwanzas.
The manual comprises 171 pages and more than 50 poems by the greatest poet and founder of the Angolan Nation.
Students, representatives of youth organizations and guests were present at the event, enlivened by a poetry recital.
