Africa-Press – Angola. The subsidiary of Chevron in Angola, Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC), intends, starting wednesday, in Porto Amboim (Cuanza Sul), to manufacture the platform of the N’dola Sul project, to reach in 2025 a production of 25,000 barrels of oil per day and 52 million cubic feet per day of gas for block 0.
The steel cutting ceremony starts the manufacturing of the N’dola Sul wellhead platform and results in a gradual production of oil and gas, whose oil platform will channel it to the Malongo terminal in Cabinda and to the Angola LNG factory in Soyo ( Zaire).
On the occasion, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, asserted that the N’dola Sul project is the result of the revised legislation, as it is a low-cost undertaking, developed under fiscal terms and revised for the marginal fields.
“This project ensures an increase in crude oil production in the country, increases gas production for the Angola LNG factory in Soyo, to collect State tax revenue, within the scope of the sector’s strategy that aims to boost and intensify the replenishment of reserves to mitigate the decline in crude oil and gas production”, he underlined.
According to Diamantino de Azevedo, the construction of the oil platform for the N’dola Sul project will enable the reactivation of local infrastructure, maintain active power, increase competitiveness in this type of business and increase the participation of Angolan companies in providing of services and supply of goods for oil companies.
The director general of Chevron, Billy Lacobie, said that “the N’dola Sul project is an example of creativity that started five years ago, when we proved that with creative solutions we can bring low cost, short cycle and repeatable projects”.
“The strategy is allowing us to manufacture structures in Angola, by Angolans and for Angolans, which allows us to bring projects from reserves to the maturity of these projects and will consist of a simple and standardized platform,” he maintained
Billy Lacobie stated that “with this project we will increase our production and supply more gas to the Angola LNG project as we produce in N’dola Sul”.
The local manufacture of N’dola Sul is an example of a partnership with the Government of Angola and the company providing services to the oil sector ALGOA.
The act was attended by the governor of Cuanza Sul, Job Capapinha, distinguished presidents of the boards of directors of companies linked to the oil, mining and gas sector, as well as guests . Lc /BA
