Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan Head of State João Lourenço received, this Thursday, the Letters of Credence from four new ambassadors, who will represent the political, diplomatic, economic and cultural interests of their countries in Angola.
In separate ceremonies held at the Presidential Palace in Luanda, the Ambassador of Palestine, Sharif Abdalrahim Abmullou, a diplomat with experience in different areas of his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented his Letters of Credence.
The President of the Republic also received the Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of Mali, Saydou Coulibaly, who has 28 years of diplomatic career experience and service in India, among other destinations, between 2014 and 2020.
The protocol procedure was also formalized by the Ambassadors of Congo, David Madouka, a diplomat since 1983, working in the areas of Francophonie and Congolese communities abroad, and of Portugal, Nuno Vaultier Mathias, 57 years old, who has previously served in diplomatic roles in Washington, Maputo, San Francisco and Riyadh.
Following the formal presentation of the Letters of Credence, the Angolan President held private meetings of approximately 15 minutes with each of the diplomats, who have resident status in the country.
Letters of Credence are formal documents through which a Head of State designates a diplomat as ambassador to another sovereign State, requesting that credibility be given to their statements and actions on behalf of the country they represent.
The delivery is made personally to the host Head of State in an official ceremony, marking the formal beginning of the diplomatic mission.
