New SME director bets on inspection

Africa-Press – Angola. The new provincial director of Benguela of the Migration and Foreigners Service, migration commissioner Sebastião Francisco Teles, pointed out, this Monday, as his priority, the inspection of the migratory situation of foreign citizens residing in this district.

According to the official, who was speaking to the press, at the end of the inauguration ceremony held at the MININT Delegation, the migratory situation in the country demands more from the SME, so the main focus in this new mission will be to assess the condition of foreign citizens who are located in Benguela.

Sebastião Teles said that the information received about the new home indicates the existence of several problems, from the lack of infrastructure, a situation that led the services to move to the building of the National Stadium of Ombaka, due to the advanced state degradation of old facilities.

Questioned about issuing passports, Sebastião Teles said that the SME has already had embarrassing situations, a situation, however, already outdated, and added that in ten days users will be able to have access to the document.

Meanwhile, the outgoing director, migration commissioner António Lobo do Nascimento, said that he is leaving the direction of the SME in Benguela with the feeling of having done his duty with a lot of dedication and hard work.

António Lobo guaranteed that the migratory situation in the province of Benguela is under control and predicted success for his replacement, to the satisfaction of users.

The provincial delegate of MININT, commissioner Aristófanes dos Santos, asked the new director for greater cohesion with all the staff of the SME, maintaining the single command, as well as respecting the hierarchy.

Aristófanes dos Santos considered the province of Benguela to be complex, for which reason he advised the new director to focus on dedication to work and exhorted the members of the advisory board to provide all necessary support to the new director, so that “the boat reaches a safe port “.

Data indicate that the SME currently controls 2,364 foreign citizens in Benguela, mostly Cape Verdeans, Portuguese and Vietnamese, with various immigration statuses.

The inauguration ceremony was witnessed by the director of institutional communication and press of the SME, migration commissioner Simão Milagre.
