Africa-Press – Angola. The Noble Group SA, which owns the ANGOMART supermarkets, will start purchasing national production directly from peasants, through partnerships to be established throughout the country later this year, with a view to supporting the stalls of its commercial surfaces.
The interest of the group, which reopened, Thursday, simultaneously its supermarkets in Lubango, Malanje and Saurimo, goes to tubers and vegetables, said its director general, Hugo Moutinho, in the capital of Huíla.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the ANGOMART supermarket in Lubango, which created 128 new jobs, eight of which indirect, he said that the objective is to allow farmers to be able to sell and market their production, as well as to find a solution to the main complaint of the producers, the outlet.
A process of creating conditions and various other mechanisms needed to facilitate timely transport from arable areas, given the sensitivity of the production that they are proposing to acquire, has advanced.
Hugo Moutinho stressed that currently 60% of country goods sold in his stores are nationally produced and already satisfy the market’s needs.
“Another challenge for the group is to initial a protocol with the Government of Angola, to create an ANGOMART component that allows the training of young people, through academic and professional training, so that, in the future, they can occupy positions of social responsibility in the stores”, he said.
He considered, on the other hand, that the reopening of the commercial infrastructure, implanted in an area of one hectare, allowed the addition of new services, such as a bakery, restaurant (take-away), fresh products and charcuterie, in order to allow the customer to have access to various services and products.
It also announced for the current year the opening of more stores in the country, already under construction, with a view to providing a “new shopping experience”, with investments made by Noble Group SA, within the framework of expanding the retail supermarket network.
ANGOMART was installed in Angola in 2003 and in Huíla five years later. Noble Group is one of Angola’s largest importers and its businesses employ over 5,000 people serving millions of Angolans every week. Its network has more than 94 wholesale points of sale, central warehouses, Cash and Carry and distribution vans, in 14 provinces of Angola.
