Africa-Press – Angola. The commander of the Northern Military Region, Lieutenant General Dinis Segunda Lucama, reaffirmed, this Friday, in the city of Uíge, the continued participation of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in the fight against illegal immigration and all types of smuggling.
At the opening of the Year of Operative, Combative and Educational-Patriotic Preparation 2023/24, the lieutenant general said that they will pay special attention to the control and security of the national territory, as well as being ready to destroy any internal and external threat.
He referred that they will continue to participate in the discovery of caches of lethal material and in the location of minefields and other unexploded explosive devices, to promote agricultural and sports activities in the units and to eradicate illiteracy in the North Military Region.
Regarding the opening of the training year, he said that the bet is aimed at raising the readiness capacity and combat disposition of the units, aiming to successfully fulfill the missions set for the year 2022/24 in the Northern Military Region.
To this end, he appealed to the troops in the region to be prepared for any mission, whether peacekeeping, search and rescue, intervention in situations of natural disasters and other interventions entrusted to them.
“The combat preparation of the troops is the main activity of the Army units, aimed at improving the readiness of the troops, with a view to fulfilling the missions assigned within the framework of the defense of the homeland and territorial integrity.
He explained that the Northern Military Region will invest in new forms and methods of organizing and preparing the troops, making them ready and capable of guaranteeing the country’s defense and security.
For the year 2023/24, the North Military Region will continue to have man as an indispensable factor for the fulfillment of its missions. In this way, despite the economic difficulties, the focus will be on improving the accommodation conditions of the troops, health services and other actions that promote social well-being.
