Africa-Press – Angola. The number of economic agents formalized by the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI) reached 60,000, according to figures released on Wednesday (26) in Luanda by the Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis, a figure which represents ten thousand more than a week ago, when the head of the department spoke, in the city of Huambo, about the evolution of the program.

Milton Reis added, yesterday, that of a global financial component of four billion kwanzas, established for loans associated with the formalization and feasibility of business, the PREI still has two billion, after the other half has already been absorbed

. , Milton Reis recalled that, in the formalization of the business itself, credit can be granted in the order of 50 thousand to seven million kwanzas.

At the moment, he said, PREI has more than five thousand requests for microcredit, and from November to the present date, around two hundred loans have been processed, in Luanda alone, in places where business is formalized with the markets of the 30 , Quicolo, Sanzala and Luanda-Sul.
Referring to access to credit, the Secretary of State appealed to economic agents to be organized into groups, in order to allow the guarantee to be joint and several, to facilitate the availability of credit.

The PREI, announced, will be extended to other professional activities, including the taxi service, with a joint work between the ministries of Economy and Planning, Transport, Territory Administration and Public Administration, Labor and Social Security (MAPTSS) , in order to create the conditions for the start of the process.

When intervening in the act, the administrator of the municipality of Cazenga, Tomás Bica, considered PREI a program with the potential to “relieving informal economic agents of financial pressure” and with a vocation to speed up small businesses.

Tomas Bica valued the inclusion of the municipality of Cazenga in the PREI, considering the benefits to be obtained, and appealed to the economic agents operating in the municipality to join this campaign en masse, in order to make the most of it.
Expansion of the program

Yesterday, the informal economic agents of the market of Asa Branca, municipality of Cazenga, province of Luanda, began to be registered to formalize business.

According to information obtained by our report, it is expected to formalize, in this market, over 2 500 bench and street vendors, including liberal professionals such as bricklayers, plumbers, tilers, electricians, refrigeration technicians and others.

During the event, the first registered economic agents Sabrita Piedade, a fish seller, Félix Cambundo, a clothing seller, and Anabela Ribeiro, a slipper seller, received cards from the Secretary of State for Planning, the deputy governor of the province of Luanda and Cazenga administrator, respectively.
The PREI was presented at Mercado do 30, in the municipality of Viana, in Luanda, in November last year, but the program’s field days have already passed, in addition to the Asa Branca market, through the markets of Quicolo, in the municipality of Cacuaco, Sanzala (Viana) and Luanda-Sul, municipality of Belas.

These days were extended a week ago to the provinces of Huambo and Bié, with plans to reach the provinces of Huíla and Cunene next week.

The PREI is an initiative of the Government of Angola, carried out by a multisectoral commission, coordinated by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, with budget support from the European Union and technical assistance from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The Program opens perspectives for entrepreneurs in the fields of training in matters related to micro-business management and gives access to Social Security, microcredit and the mobile phone digital payment system.
