Africa-Press – Angola. The Cunene Finance Delegate, Gika da Conceição Morais, highlighted this Thursday, in Ondjiva, the importance of the Customs Forum, in sharing information on customs tax matters.
Opening the 2nd edition of the Customs Forum, which took place in the city of Ondjiva, Gika Morais said that the event is written on the need to promote debates and share customs tax information to broaden understanding to all parties involved in international trade.
It encouraged the customs community to mobilize towards the consolidation of the global logistics chain, strengthening collaboration and the central role given to taxpayers in the dynamics of transforming customs areas.
He informed that the country has been monitoring the dynamics of international trade, despite some challenges and new opportunities that open up for Angola, in the case of joining the African Free Trade Area.
Due to the new challenges, he explained that there is a need to reorganize some customs procedures, an initiative that must count on all partners of the General Tax Administration (AGT).
To this end, he suggested improving technical and technological structures and improving the inspection process and paying greater attention to taxpayers, respecting their guarantees.
Gika Morais recalled that the tax reform aims to facilitate, simplify and streamline the dialogue process between taxpayers and AGT, attract investment and revenue collection for the State, in a fair and equitable manner.
Customs Service
In turn, the director of Customs Services, Jerónimo Cambalanganja, said that the aim is to create proximity between AGT’s customs services and the other operators in the chain.
“Our concern is to ensure that measures and policies are perceived by the population and encourage taxpayers to enter the chain and operators, in international trade, to gain confidence in the tax system,” he said.
Jerónimo Cambalanganja underlined that with the forum, taxpayers understood better about the tariff and customs code, the advantages, benefits and other diplomas, such as measures to discourage tax evasion of goods.
During the forum, topics such as “Evolution of the authorized economic operator program”, “Principles of changes to the customs tariff”, “Customs transit control, using electronic stamps” and “Entrance and exit of models under the terms of notice No. /22, of March 3rd, of the National Bank of Angola (BNA)”.
The 2nd edition of the Customs Forum, which took place in the city of Ondjiva, under the motto “A Customs closer to the taxpayer”, in an initiative of the 6th Region of the General Tax Administration (AGT), covered the provinces of Cunene and Cuando Cubango.
The event was attended by economic operators, brokers, travelers and senior staff from AGT and other individuals.
The customs forum takes place at national level, in the seven Tax Regions, and has already taken place in Benguela, Cabinda, Huíla, Lunda Norte, Cunene and ends in Malanje.
