Africa-Press – Angola. Seventy operators of petroleum derivatives were informed, this Thursday, in Huambo, about opportunities for investment, storage, distribution and marketing of fuel, in an initiative by the Regulatory Institute for this sector in Angola.

The meeting, given by technicians from the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute (IRDP), Sonangol and the local Economic and Integrated Development office, aimed, among others, to present the distribution record of fuel filling stations in the province of Huambo and investigate the main constraints of its ineffectiveness.

Held under the motto “Promoting opportunities for private investment in the petroleum derivatives sector”, the event also allowed to refine the strategies of fuel distribution and marketing companies, publicize investments, encourage the construction and implementation of prototype models of simple filling stations.

On the occasion, the head of the department of commercial relations, tariffs and prices at the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute (IRDP), Nelson de Carvalho, said that the training aimed to interact with operators in the sector, to prevent inoperability and equipment shortages. , which is registered in some regions of the country.

He informed that the IRDP is grateful for the fact that the province of Huambo has fuel pumps in the 11 municipalities, missing the communes, which is why the power lines were presented to the operators to improve their performance.

To this end, Nelson de Carvalho encouraged private investors to embrace the various models of business partnerships and commercial banking financing, to resolve the shortage of fuel stations, both in communes and in villages with a significant number of population clusters. .

He highlighted that, currently, it is necessary for gas stations to have, for example, a store, service station, catering, retreading, sale of butane gas and a barbershop, as part of the diversification of services offered to citizens, which can increase their income.

For his part, the vice-governor of the province of Huambo for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Angelino Elavoco, pointed out that this region of the country has registered a growth trend in the urban population, thus justifying the increase in fuel consumption and other petroleum derivatives.

He considered that holding the seminar will allow for a greater assessment of the local market, from its functioning, bottlenecks and the measures to be adopted to increase supply capacity, in order to guarantee its balanced functioning.

He mentioned that the stability and proper functioning of the petroleum derivatives market must be a concern for everyone, especially provincial governments, in ensuring sales points, so that they comply with territorial logic, in order to prevent the population from traveling long distances. distances to satisfy your needs.

The province of Huambo has 71 fuel stations distributed across 11 municipalities, operated by Sonangol, Sonagalp, Pumangol, Total Energy and Bandeira Branca (containers).

The IRDP, a body supervised by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, has the main purpose of exercising the functions of regulation, control and supervision of all activities related to the petroleum derivatives sector, carried out in Angola.
