Africa-Press – Angola. The International Olympafrica Foundation promised this Monday, in Luanda, to support the transformation of the Olympafrica Center in Viana into an infrastructure for training sporting talents and social integration of Angolan children in the community.

Without revealing the financial amounts that his institution could make available, the continental official stated that upon completion, the center must work in close partnership with the local community, in the implementation of sports and other training programs.

According to its executive director, Alassane Thierno Diack, during a meeting with representatives of sports federations, at the Sports Gallery, the creation of the center will be a form of development, as it will house other sectors, such as education, health and environment.

During his speech, Alassane Diack expressed satisfaction at seeing that the center, even without completion, has its field in use for the benefit of residents, including children, teenagers and adults.

He added that the main objective of his foundation is to combine the binomial education and sport for the development of families and countries, as well as working on aspects of environmental preservation, agricultural promotion and other activities to empower the inhabitants.

He cited some African countries as an example, where the centers constitute important factors of sporting and social progress, influencing hundreds of practitioners who have already achieved success in international competitions, to the benefit and prestige of the continent.

In turn, the president of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), Gustavo da Conceição, reiterated his squad’s commitment to completing the Viana center, with the support of the country’s entities and Fundão Olympafrica.

On the occasion, the former Paralympic and world record holder, José Sayovo Armando, made a brief foray into the beginning of his career, passing through the center of Viana, defending the need to complete the aforementioned infrastructures, for the good of future local practitioners and not only.

An identical position was taken by the member of the National Football Team with crutches, Sandro do Rosário, who also valued his time and training in the city of Viana and his global presence.

Since the 27th in Angola, during his visit, which culminates Senegalese Alassane Diack witnessed the signing of a partnership agreement between the COA and Viana Administration, with a view to inserting the Olympafrica Center into the integrated intervention project for municipalities (PIIM).

The memorandum seeks some support regarding the construction of the various infrastructures necessary for the development of the objectives advocated by the center.

The African entity was also received by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, with whom she analyzed the completion of the Viana center.

The Olympafrica International Foundation, based in Dakar (Senegal), is an organization whose purpose is to disseminate Olympic values ​​on the continent, carrying out in-depth work in several African countries, using sport as a factor of social development, by creating centers inclusion sports in rural areas.

As for the Viana venue, 31 years after its conception, the Olympafrica Complex is experiencing long interruptions in its construction phase.

The work, restarted in 2015, would be completed in 2020, but successive failures led to 2024 being set as a new deadline.

The model of Olympafrica includes multi-sports courts, an amphitheater, a grass football field, an athletics track, service areas, a children’s playground and others.

There are also plans to have a school with 12 classrooms, three pavilions for wrestling, basketball, handball, volleyball, futsal, a 25-meter swimming pool and an athletics track.
