Africa-Press – Angola. The activist Maria Teresa Navita Francisco was elected, on Friday, in Lubango, to the position of executive secretary of the OMA in Huíla, during the 1st Extraordinary Meeting, with 289 votes, from a total of 310 delegates present, corresponding to 96 .31% acceptance.

Teresa Navita, who served as a member of the secretariat of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Huíla, ran alone.

The elected secretary replaces Fernanda dos Santos, who directed the OMA’s destinies since 2019, leaving the position as she was elected deputy in 2022, which is why she discontinues, within the framework of resolution number 01 of the MPLA Political Bureau.

Speaking in her first speech, the elected provincial executive secretary said that despite being a new job, they are aware that with everyone’s support they will continue to make OMA a space for dialogue and coexistence between generations, as well as forming policy and ideologically the militants.

He said that he will not lose sight of advocacy in favor of women and in particular, the zungueira for their continued empowerment.

He committed to leading with perseverance and integrity, diligently complying with the actions outlined in the OMA 2021-2026 program, approved at the last ordinary assembly, working with the base sessions and listening to everyone’s voices, without distinction.

He added that he also wants to know how many there are and what has been or is being done, with a view to improving work strategies and ensuring that actions are aligned with the statutes of the organization and the party, with emphasis on party ethics.

He added that OMA will work with the old and new generation to allow a balance of knowledge, mutual respect and cohesion, determination and dedication to achieve the recommended objectives and promote its values ​​with dignity.

“The organization has a vital role to play in building a more equal and fair future for all women. We will face the challenges that lie ahead with the patriotic spirit, courage, determination and together we will achieve great achievements from a political, cultural point of view and social within families, the recovery of moral and ethical values ​​and the moralization of society”, he reinforced.

In turn, the second secretary of the MPLA in Huíla José Arão Chissonde, pointed out that the event is a sign that the OMA has staff and is prepared for the challenges, which is why he urged members to support the secretary.

In the organization’s social work, the politician asked for “special attention” in the work to revitalize literacy brigades, the continued promotion of women and their insertion in economic life and in campaigns to combat early pregnancy and other actions to be be carried out from now on.

The OMA in Huíla has 368,518 members, distributed across seven thousand and 479 base sessions.
