Africa-Press – Angola. A group of 50 women, who are dedicated to street vending in the municipalities of Bengo province, benefited, in Caxito, from support from the Organization of Angolan Women (OMA), to boost the business and increase family income.
During the 1st Zungueira Provincial Women’s Forum, each received 10,000 kwanzas, in addition to various goods, to start or reinforce commercial activity. The amount must be repaid within a period of three months.
Speaking at the forum, the MPLA’s first secretary in Bengo, Mara Quiosa, said that the act aims to promote mechanisms for the empowerment of women, contributing to their valorization in society. “This project is intended to contribute to the promotion of self-employment and improve the living conditions of many families”, stated Mara Quiosa. The first secretary added that the holding of the forum is proof of recognition of the empowerment and achievements achieved by women, in particular the zungueiras, for everything they do and will certainly continue to do for families and the country.
“Many of you are the mother and father of your families. Despite the difficulties you face, some caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, you manage, with resilience, to manage your business and take care of your families”, he highlighted.
Mara Quiosa thanked MPLA president João Lourenço for all the support he has given to Angolan women, especially for believing in the strength and resilience of the female class, allowing them to occupy several prominent places in society. The 1st Provincial Forum for Zungueira Women took place, on Thursday, under the motto “Mamã zungueira raises”.
