Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s ombudswoman Florbela Rocha Araújo received Wednesday (12), in an audience, the President of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters and Social Intervention, José Bernardo Quiteculo, to discuss aspects related to strengthening institutional cooperation, within the framework of promoting inclusion and communication accessibility.

According to a note, during the meeting José Bernardo Quiteculo highlighted the social benefits resulting from the partnership with the Ombudsperson’s Office, underlining the importance of the continuity of sign language interpretation in public events promoted by State institutions.

The official reiterated that the presence of interpreters is essential to ensure the full and informed participation of people with hearing disabilities, thus promoting the exercise of citizenship and equal opportunities.

In turn, the Florbela Rocha Araújo acknowledged the important work carried out by the Association, highlighting the interpreters’ contribution to the clear and accessible transmission of institutional messages to the most vulnerable groups.

She reaffirmed the Ombudsperson commitment to continue promoting actions that consolidate inclusion and respect for the rights of people with disabilities.

The Association of Sign Language Interpreters and Social Intervention is a philanthropic, non-partisan, and non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting communication in Angolan Sign Language and providing social support in public and private institutions, within the scope of the inclusion and integration of people with hearing impairments.
