Regular passenger transport carried out by the Luanda Railway (CFL), to Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) is available from four in the morning, with 12 daily frequencies, and provided by 14 railway stations.The operation of CFL trains bound for AIAAN will be carried out by the Express service, which began yesterday at 4:00 am from Bungo Station.

The second trip, which was attended by the media, CFL technicians and technicians from several companies that were directly involved in the operation of the port unit, left at 6:00 am, arriving at 7:13 am, at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport.

The Express train will have a mandatory stop at Viana Station, with a service starting at 6:00 am and ending at 11:00 pm.

The CFL will have a fixed schedule for this service, departing from Bungo at 6 am and arriving at AIAAN station at 7:06 am. The customer pays five thousand kwanzas per trip on the Express train.

Frequencies

Speaking to the press, the director of the CFL Institutional Communication Office, Augusto Osório, said that for this new service, the railway company has three trains available, each with the capacity to transport 700 people, on the 12 frequencies planned in the first phase.

“For this route, a 51-kilometer journey between Bungo Station and the New International Airport Terminal”, he stressed.

The CFL has three services, namely Express, Inter-station and Suburban. In the Suburban service there will be 20 daily frequencies, between Bungo Station and Viana Station.

Operationalization

The 14 railway stations that will accommodate passengers have guaranteed services, and are equipped with convenience stores, restaurants and changing rooms.

Augusto Osório also reported that there is a second line that also forms part of the branch line that connects the International Airport itself, which is also completed.

Along the route, some improvement works are underway, mainly separators and construction of hills to protect the CFL and improve safety.

Once completed, the duration of the run between Bungo station and AIAAN should be 45 minutes.
