Africa-Press – Angola. Determination and a feeling of resilience were the basis for the Angolans winning gold and bronze medals in the Bodybuilding World Championship, held last weekend, in Madrid (Spain).

These are Yuri Valentim (Classic Physique Elite) and Venâncio Bento “Aquiles” (Bobulding Elite Pro).

According to the president of the Angolan Bodybuilding Federation, Bráulio Martins, the feat that makes the country proud, was only possible thanks to the commitment of the athletes and the support of everyone, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

In the Classic Physique Elite category, in which the Angolan became world champion, French athlete Maxime Ratier came second, followed by Belgian Joseph Peters, in the class where the top ten classified were awarded.

Regarding the bronze medal, “Achilles”, flanked by Mika Sihvonen, from Finland, in first place and Eddy Wilson, from Suriname, a South American country, in second place, a race in which Ghanaian Gadwin Frimpong and German Rico Lehmann were disqualified.

In Spain, with more than 20 countries, the Angolan team participated in the world championship with three professional athletes, namely Yuri Valentim (Classic Physique Elite), Venâncio Bento “Aquiles” (Bobulding Elite Pro).

Danilo Carvalho, from the Classic Physique category up to 1.72 meters tall, who participated in the Arnold Classic competition in Europe, amateur version, taking fifth place.
