Africa-Press – Angola. Author of two works, namely, “Léxico da Luta de Libertação Nacional” and “From EPLA to FAPLA”, the general, as author of the month (February), clarified that one of the main motivations for the production of the books came from the need that he felt like bringing a series of questions about the liberation struggle to the public.

According to Mbeto Traça, when talking about the fight, he only remembers big names, like Agostinho Neto, Lúcio Lara and Hoji ya Henda. “There were other anonymous people who participated and made it possible for this fight to advance and be won”, he clarified, having highlighted the important role played by the Armed Forces.

Most countries, said the general, have forces created before the wars, a fact that he said did not happen with Angola, which built its military forces by fighting. “We were forced to fight and build them”, added the honoree of the month, noting that the first military army created by the MPLA was the EPLA, which ceased to exist in 1962.

In 1974, according to Mbeto Traça, the FAPLA were created, which helped to conquer National Independence, which, in turn, faced the South African aggressions, in the period from 1975 to 1992, they were the army that gave body to the current FAA .

“This route from the EPLA to the FAPLA was extremely important, because it marked the formation of the first units, which evolved and we started to have artillery”, he said. Mbeto Traça discusses the different phases of the military units, the people who were involved in the in the army formed in the middle of the conflict.”We learn to fight by fighting”, he reiterated, clarifying that the army was formed after joining the war.

“The war started first and the Armed Forces were created later”, clarified the author “Das EPLA às FAPLA”, a broader book that addresses the path of the Armed Forces and, in a very general way, the incidences of the National Liberation Struggle .

In the work, the general refers to the people who participated in it. Arlindo Isabel, director general of Mayamba Editora, responsible for publishing the works, justified the homage to the author of the books, as they are part of the Bibliotecas da História collection.
