Africa-Press – Angola. At least 42 Heads of State and Government have confirmed their presence at the 7th Summit of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) to be held in the Angolan capital, Luanda, on November 24 and 25, announced the event’s spokesperson, Jorge Cardoso.
The director for Africa, the Middle East and Regional Organizations of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that there are 28 African leaders and 14 European leaders.
He mentioned that, to date, 42 African countries have confirmed their participation, out of the 49 expected, with 18 represented by Heads of State and Government, others by Vice-Presidents, and still others by ministers.
Regarding the European Union, he stated that 26 of the 27 member states that make up this international community are guaranteed to participate.
“As we know, one of them is not participating, and in this context, the level of participation of the European Union member states is quite high, with about 14 Heads of State and Government confirmed and 12 represented,” Cardoso said.
According to the diplomat, in parallel with the representatives from Africa and Europe, the summit will have the participation of the United Nations with some of the most important specialized agencies, particularly those involved in financing for investment.
He stressed that the president of the African Development Bank will be present at the summit, whose delegations will begin arriving in the country on Saturday, November 22.
