The governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, said (Sunday), in the country’s capital, that the National Football Team united the Angolans with their performance and the quarter-finals achieved in the African Cup of Nations (CAN ́2023), which takes place in Côte d’Ivoire.
Speaking to the press, at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, at the reception of the Palancas Negras, the official said that the Angolan team “fought” between the main candidates for the title, such as Algeria (1-1) and raised the flag to the highest national, with an unprecedented balance of three victories.
Due to this performance, Manuel Homem highlighted that in the name of all Angolans, a patriotic reception was organized for the team, as a way of dignifying them for their excellent result in the competition.
In the competition, Angola defeated Mauritania (3-2), Burkina Faso (2-0), Namibia (3-0), drew with Algeria (1-1) and was eliminated by Nigeria, 0-1, in the quarters -of-finals.
