Panda revalidates GP Cidade do Luena

Africa-Press – Angola. The pilot Francisco Panda won, this Thursday, for the second consecutive time, the Grand Prix (GP) in motorbikes, as part of the celebration of the 67th anniversary of the festivities in the city of Luena.

The pilot, champion of the previous edition, had the best performance, adding 30 points, beating the competition Francisco Vieira, who was in second place with 27 points and Hélder Samuel who completed the podium, being in third position (26Pts).

Nine competitors participated in the 115-cylinder Yamaha motorcycle category, on a 1.8-kilometre circuit with 13 curves.

Speaking to the press, the winner highlighted the level of competitiveness of the opponents that “made the race more interesting and dynamic”.

In another competition, pilot Pedro Soares (30 pts), from the province of Huambo, won the FZ motorcycle category, followed by Ferreira Artur (29 pts) and José Carruagem (28 pts), in 2nd and 3rd position, respectively.

In the DT 50cc category, Benedito Belchior was in first place with 30 points, while Gabriel Bento (28 Pts) and João (25 Pts), completed the podium.

The president of the Moxico Provincial Motor Sport Association, Cesaltino Neves, considered that the 6th edition of this competition exceeded expectations, due to the evolution it registered, marked by the participation of athletes from more advanced provinces in this modality.

Luena was elevated to city status on May 18, 1956.
