Africa-Press – Angola. The coach of the National Women’s Senior Basketball Team, Paulo Macedo, showed confidence in the team’s recovery and promises a different attitude from the players in today’s game, against Mozambique, for the selective qualifier for Afrobasket in Côte d’Ivoire.

After yesterday’s 44-50 defeat, the coach highlighted the need to improve shooting efficiency and minimize ball losses to guarantee direct qualification.

“We are going to correct all the aspects that were not going well, be more assertive in short and long distance throws and control anxiety, as there was a lot of nervousness on the part of the athletes,” said Macedo.

The coach also appealed to the Angolan public to come out in force and support the team in the decisive match.

“I want to thank you for the support we received and I hope that tomorrow (today), more people will come and support Angola. We will come in with a different attitude, as we have athletes capable of doing better”, he added.

Nilton Joaquim praises pupils

On the opposing side, Mozambique’s coach, Nilton Joaquim, praised his team’s evolution throughout the match and reinforced the need to maintain focus for the second game.

“The group was able to respond well to what we prepared. Angola plays with the same intensity as us, but we want to forget what we did in the first match and focus our attention on the final challenge. I liked the attitude of my athletes and I believe that tomorrow we will play a game with the same dynamics”, he stated.

With the need to win by at least seven points, Angola will have a decisive challenge ahead to keep its dream of competing in Afrobasket alive.
