Africa-Press – Angola. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, said on Tuesday that with the death of former Minister of Justice Paulo Tjipilica, the country loses a distinguished public servant, renowned for his firm principles, clarity of thought, and masterful oratory.
In a condolence note, Carolina Cerqueira stated that Tjipilica, who was also Angola’s first Ombudsman, dignified political life and the national public sphere.
She emphasized that the late Tjipilica’s lucid and unmistakable voice will remain a reference for intellectual, ethical, and civic elevation, also highlighting the legacy of dedication, ethics, and invaluable contribution he left to society.
The note also highlighted his commitment to defending the principles of peaceful coexistence, friendship, and solidarity, values that guided his actions as a public official.
On her behalf and the members of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira offered her condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and all who shared Paulo Tjipilica’s ideals and service, hoping that his memory will always be remembered with respect and gratitude.
Paulo Tjipilica served as Minister of Justice for 12 years and was also Angola’s first Ombudsman, a role he held for 13 years. Born on December 21, 1939, he graduated in Law from the University of Lisbon in 1976.
