Africa-Press – Angola. The voluntary payment of property taxes (IP) and taxes on Motor Vehicles (IVM) for the year 2023 began, this Monday, throughout the national territory, in the offices or tax posts of the General Tax Administration (AGT) .
For payment, taxpayers will be able to make an appointment via the Taxpayer Portal or the AGT website for online or in-person assistance, as well as request support from the Taxpayer Support Center, to facilitate the fulfillment of this task.
Property Tax on property ownership must be paid by the last business day of March by the taxpayer, but may, however, be paid in six consecutive installments, at the request of the interested party.
The IP rate is 0.5 percent on the amount of asset value that exceeds five million (5,000,000.00) kwanzas. For buildings that are rented, the effective rate of 15 percent of the total rent applies.
Property Tax (IP) is levied on the asset value or income of urban and rural buildings, as well as on free or onerous transfers of real estate, regardless of the title under which such transfers are carried out.
Tax on Motor Vehicles (IVM)
The Tax on Motor Vehicles (IVM), approved by Law No. 24/20, of 13 June, which revoked the Circulation Tax – approved by Legislative Diploma No. 3837, of 30 July 1968, is charged from 1 January June of each year.
Motor vehicles are subject to IVM, namely light and heavy cars, motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles and quadricycles, as well as boats and aircraft.
All motor vehicles, whether exempt or not, must be registered. For non-exempt vehicles, tax must be paid regardless of whether the vehicle is in circulation or not.
