Africa-Press – Angola. Artist Pedro Cenas was elected, this Friday, provincial delegate of the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC-SA) in Uíge with 64 votes, out of a total of 123 valid votes.

For the leadership of UNAC in the region, Nlandu Francisco also competed, having received 33 votes and Nora Cambuta with 26.

The association, which was left without a representative and carried out activities for 33 years in Uíge, reemerges with new challenges, from registering artists, carrying out activities, among other actions.

At the end of the activity, the new UNAC delegate in Uíge, Pedro Cenas, said that he will focus on creating an installation in the organization, raising awareness and registering the artistic class and other challenges.

The UNAC board in the North region, which comprises the provinces of Cabinda, Zaire and Uíge, directed compliance with the board’s statutes and work towards the massification of culture, arts and the union of artists.

He also instructed the members of the commission to maintain communication with the provincial government and with artists, aiming to develop the arts and attract investors in the region.

UNAC in the northern region controls two thousand and 45 artists, of which 25 are from Uíge. It is a public utility institution, created 42 years ago, bringing together authors, composers, musicians, dancers, actors and agents of other artistic expressions.

Its objective is to establish and implement strategies and actions that contribute to the promotion, development and defense of the socio-professional interests of the class.
