Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda defeated Wiliete de Benguela, 2-0, Sunday, in a friendly football match played at the Ombaka national stadium.

The goals of the match were scored by Vanilson, in the 79th minute, and Carlinhos, in stoppage time.

The challenge served to present Wiliete de Benguela’s main football team, which will be involved in the national championship for the 2023/24 season.

The opening minutes of the game were quite balanced, with a lot of ball fighting in midfield.

From the 20th minute onwards, Petro started to create more goal opportunities, coming close to scoring in the 35th minute, through Vanilson.

Two minutes later, after a pass from Vanilson, Tiago Azulão wasted the best scoring opportunity of the first half, shooting past goalkeeper Gui.

At the 51st minute, Petro was reduced to 10 units, after the expulsion of Anderson, a direct red, for a foul committed on a Wiliete forward.

The goals came in the 79th minute and in stoppage time, the result of a greater predisposition to attack by the tricolor team from Luanda, although Wiliete timidly also took the danger to the opponent’s goal.

At the end of the game, Petro’s coach, Alexandre Santos, said that in another weekend without official games in the country, it was good to be able to come and play in Benguela, thanking Wiliete for the invitation, as it allowed the athletes more time to travel. .

“It was more of a training session. If yesterday at Tundavala we played against 10, today the situation was reversed and we played part of the challenge with one less, which was also good for us to understand how we have to sacrifice ourselves when we are in this condition”, mentioned.

According to Alexandre Santos, the result matters, although it was favorable, with the game itself being the most important.

He praised the state of the grass at the Ombaka stadium, which allows good football to be played, and said he hoped that those responsible for its management could preserve it with that quality.

Asked about the Afrotaças second leg game, against Songo de Moçambique, he revealed that they will do an internship in Luanda and travel to Lubango, the venue for the match, only on the same day.

“We hope we can emerge victorious,” he concluded.

Wiliete’s coach, Silvestre Pelé, stated that the game was positive, but said that they are tired with the delay in starting Girabola 2023/24.

He explained that they have not held games since the Friendship Tournament, for more than two months, so this was very important to make a global assessment of what is intended, hoping for the return, as soon as possible, of competitions under the auspices of the Angolan Federation of football.

To attack the next sporting season, Wiliete’s team signed up 35 athletes, including four goalkeepers, three full-backs, six defenders, 17 midfielders and five forwards.
