The Attorney General’s Office in Cuanza-Norte (PGR) announced, this Sunday, the possibility of holding companies criminally responsible for the delay in completing the rehabilitation and expansion works of the Municipal Hospital of Cambambe, which has been running for more than ten years. years and has already consumed more than 900 million kwanzas from the state coffers.

On a working visit to the city of Dondo, the sub-Prosecutor General of the titular Republic of Cuanza-Norte, Maria Joaquina Pedro, clarified that those responsible for the undertaking must be brought to their senses. “I learned from the administrator that two funds were allocated, but, until today, things have not progressed, how is it possible?” , asked the magistrate.

Maria Joaquim Pedro said that, according to the works, the authorities have to make a decision so that the contractors are held accountable. For the first phase of the reconstruction and expansion work of the General Hospital of Cambambe, more than 400 million kwanzas were made available, with another 500 million having been added.

The magistrate said that the contractors have to say what happened. “Those responsible, for having received the money and not honoring the commitments, have to bear the consequences”, he said, having mentioned that, “if they did not receive, they will have to justify, before the judicial bodies, that they did not receive” .

The sub-attorney general admitted the possibility that the entrepreneurs are not guilty, “but that will have to prove it, it is not enough to say that they are not, because we will impute responsibilities when we start doing our work”.

The degree of execution of projects underway in the municipality was also assessed by the deputy attorney general of Cuanza-Norte, Maria Joaquim Pedro, during a visit to three of the four schools built with funds made available through the Integration and Inclusion Program.
