Africa-Press – Angola. The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in Huíla province plans to expand its services to the 23 municipalities in the province, with emphasis on the nine newly created ones, as well as the placement of resident magistrates in those where permanent presence is already justified.

The institution needs at least 20 more magistrates, in addition to a proportional increase in the number of technicians and employees, currently set at around 36 magistrates and 100 technicians, when the overall need is around 300 employees.

In an interview, the deputy chief prosecutor of the Republic in the province, Nilton Muaca, stated that throughout 2025 he carried out working visits to eight municipalities, with new trips planned in 2026, as part of monitoring the activity of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and strengthening institutional proximity, with a view to assessing the real conditions to achieve these intentions.

He added that the crimes of theft and cattle theft, as well as the trafficking of strategic minerals and drugs, remain among the main concerns of the PGR in Huíla, ensuring that it is acting in a firm and coordinated manner to combat them.

Despite the limitations, the source highlighted, the institution highlights the “good” infrastructural conditions of its services, ensured with the support of the Provincial Government and local administrations, guaranteeing accommodation and working conditions for magistrates.

“The overall assessment thus points to a year of positive results, marked by challenges, but also by consistent advances”, noted the judge.

He also reaffirmed that the Attorney General’s Office continues on a “solid path” of institutional consolidation, with the commitment to do more and better next year, in defense of legality, justice and public interest”, highlighted the judge.
