Africa-Press – Angola. The lack of representation of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in 8 of the 14 municipalities that make up the province of Malanje is conditioning the institution’s performance in the region.

The information was provided, this Friday, by the titular provincial sub-prosecutor, Francisca Rasgado, when she was making the annual balance of the procedural movement registered by the PGR in Malanje.

According to the magistrate, the situation has resulted in excessive preventive detention, adding that the fact that the PGR in Malanje has 81employees, a number below the needs.

This number, he continued, includes a sub-prosecutor of the Republic, 20 prosecutors, 49 justice technicians and 11 administrative employees.

He informed that the municipality of Malanje has a prosecutor, four justice technicians and an administrative employee.

The municipality of Cacuso has two public prosecutors and four justice technicians. Calandula, on the other hand, has a public prosecutor and two justice technicians.

He stated that the PGR in Calandula is also responsible for the municipality of Massango.

As for the municipality of Mucari, it has a public prosecutor, two justice technicians and an administrative employee, who are also responsible for the municipalities of Quela, Quirima, Luquembo and Cambundi Catembo.

Magistrate Francisca Rasgado said that the municipality of Cangandala has a prosecutor, four justice technicians and an administrative employee.

While Kiwaba Nzoji has a prosecutor and two justice technicians, who also serve the municipalities of Cahombo, Cunda-dia-bas and Marimba.

He reported that the municipality of Cangandala has a prosecutor, four justice technicians and an administrative official.

Criminal proceedings within the framework of the fight against corruption

The PGR in Malanje referred to the Provincial Court, in the period from January to November of the current year, 13 criminal proceedings for judgment and accountability.

These are processes within the framework of combating corruption and other related crimes.

Malanje provincial sub-prosecutor, Francisca Rasgado, said that the processes involve public managers, with emphasis on municipal administrators.

According to the magistrate, this number is part of a list of 68 cases of the same nature, of which 53 are in the preparatory stage at the Court.

He added that one of these processes was forwarded to the National Directorate of Investigation and Penal Action (DNIAP) and the same number filed.

On the occasion, Francisca Rasgado underlined that during the year, the PGR registered with the common crimes room of the Provincial Court of Malanje, 1,404 cases that were associated with 12 others carried over from last year.

Among the registered cases, emphasis is given to robberies with 131, aggravated theft (142), sexual assault (24), attempted robbery (12), negligent homicide (55) and serious offenses to physical integrity (191).

The list continues with attempted theft (16), sexual abuse (11), breach of trust (14), fraud (17), aggravated theft (47), simple homicide (37), child trafficking (18) and aggravated homicide (13).

The list completes the possession and use of drugs (9), physical domestic violence (21) and threats with 16 cases.
