Africa-Press – Angola. Four citizens, aged between 23 and 37, were arrested on Friday by the National Police, for stealing a high voltage cable from the underground electrical conduit of the future General Hospital of Ondjiva, Cunene province.
The information was provided by the director of the institutional communication and press office of the National Police in Cunene, chief superintendent Nicolau Tuvecalela, adding that the accused were detained following a police operation.
According to the officer, the incident occurred around five o’clock, when the alleged criminals tore down the fence and entered the institution, stealing the cable for sale.
In light of the incident, measures were taken to arrest those involved and recover the property.
On the occasion, the official stated that the corporation will continue to work to combat crimes of vandalization of public property, which have caused considerable damage to the Angolan State.
The Ondjiva General Hospital has been built since May 2021 in the Naipalala III neighborhood and will have the capacity to accommodate 200 patients.
Implemented in an area of 60 thousand square meters, the infrastructure cost the State coffers 52 million euros, including equipment.
The health unit will provide services in pediatrics, obstetrics, endoscopy, biology, ophthalmology, stomatology, minor surgeries, X-rays, CT scans, among others.
The building will replace the old General Hospital, which was partially destroyed in October 2020, as a result of a fire.
