Africa-Press – Angola. Thirty-four citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were detained, Tuesday, in the municipality of Maquela do Zombo, Uíge province, for attempting to enter the country illegally.
In total, the Border Guard Police in the municipality of Maquela do Zombo detained, in less than seven days, at the Quimbata border post, 44 DRC citizens for illegal immigration.
This Wednesday, the spokesperson for the Uíge Provincial Command of the National Police, chief superintendent, Freitas Zamas, explained that the detention of the citizens resulted from operational actions by the corporation’s staff carried out along the border with the DRC.
For this reason, he said that the PN in the region will intensify actions at the Quimbata border post, an area bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to stop the illegal entry of citizens into the country.
The province of Uíge shares a 442-kilometer land border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
