In the training action, topics related to human rights are addressed, such as detention, trafficking in human beings, gender equality, violence, exploitation of women, police responsibility in the pre- and post-election period.
The provincial commander, Commissioner Timóteo Hilário, said that the seminar is being held at a time when the country is undergoing a period of transformation, with emphasis on the fight against corruption, nepotism, money laundering and other related crimes, as well as the preparation for the fifth general elections.
This reality, he said, requires a greater mastery of the law, with emphasis on human rights, indispensable instruments in the exercise of the body’s activities.
“The various bodies of the administration of justice have integrated new paradigms regarding the treatment of various legal and judicial matters in relation to human rights embodied in civil and political rights, right to life, property, freedom of thought, expression, belief and the right to nationality. “, said.
The commissioner said that the Ministry of the Interior is the State body that has been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating and formulating internal policy and public security. “On the operational level and in the fight against crime, it forces us to be careful regarding the observance of the principles of legality, fundamentally the rights to privacy, presumption of innocence that are rights of investigation and in the fight against crime”, he said.
