Africa-Press – Angola. Four hundred and seventy-five liters of smuggled fuel were seized last weekend by the National Police on the border between the provinces of Lunda Norte and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The information was provided Monday, by the spokesman for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Lunda Norte, Domingos Muanafumo, stressing that the seizure resulted from a micro-operation at several border posts.
He informed that during the operation, 100 bags of salt and an equal number of wheat flour that were being smuggled along the border were also seized.
Two mines with 1,550 narcotic plantations (liamba) were also destroyed, in the municipalities of Xá-muteba and Lucapa.
In addition to the destruction of the mines, he continued, three alleged owners of the same were arrested, already forwarded to the Public Ministry for subsequent steps.
He made it known that the operation enabled the frustration of 100 cases of border violations, which resulted in the arrest of 519 citizens of the DRC, accompanied by 69 children.
The immigrants who intended to reach the diamond mining areas and the capital of Angola, Luanda, have already been repatriated to their country of origin, through the border posts in the municipalities of Cuango, Caungula, Lóvua, Chitato and Cambulo.
