Africa’s political leaders must commit themselves to resolving armed conflicts and the various problems that still undermine the stability of nations and undermine the continent’s development. The appeal was made yesterday, in Luanda, by the president of the International Youth Forum with Embassies (FIJE).

Speaking at the opening of the 2nd Edition of the International Youth Forum With Embassies, which began yesterday and ends tomorrow, Clinton Matias said that African leaders should jointly give practical attention to the problems that most afflict the continent’s youth.

Among the priority problems, stressed the president of FIJE, are the resolution of armed conflicts, the implementation of programs to promote employability, housing, education, teaching, as well as the promotion of unity among nations.

Africa, he stressed, needs leaders who excel in rigor and discipline, organization, accountability and, above all, the enhancement of human capital, a decisive factor for the progress of the cradle continent.

With regard to young people, the President of FIJE exhorted young people to have hope and trust in leaders, stressing that they have the duty and responsibility to do everything to make the dreams of the children of Africa come true.

The International Youth Forum with Embassies, said Clinton Matias, is an initiative of young African leaders from various national and international organizations, where dialogue creates a space and an instrument to share experiences and business, socio-cultural, sports, academic training opportunities.

According to the president of FIJE, holding the forum is also an opportunity to create harmony between young people of different nationalities so that they can unite ideas capable of developing the continent in common, defending a united, developed and economically sustainable Africa.

Young Angolans, said Clinton Matias, dream of seeing a better continent, a more harmonious and integral, strong and sustainable Africa that takes care of its children and all those who work for its development and the well-being of families, in particular.

Regarding the presence of the ambassadors of China, the Kingdom of Belgium and Mozambique in Angola, present at the forum, the president of FIJE said that young Angolans and not only want the experiences and opportunities to become a “strong advocacy” with the institutions , in order to mitigate the vulnerability and poverty index of families.

The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Angola, Jozet Smets, present at the forum, said that the reforms carried out by the Executive had caused confidence in the international community, in particular the European Union (EU).

The confidence that Angola managed to create at an international level, stressed Smets, is not just a diplomatic rhetoric, but a reality. “Angola is a country that deserves the confidence of the Belgian Government”, he said. The fight against corruption, the improvement of the business climate and other legal instruments, stressed Jozet Smets, made Belgian businessmen and those from other countries visit Angola, weekly to conduct prospecting in business areas in partnership with Angolans.

More than improving the business environment in Angola, stressed Jozet Smets, it is necessary to invest a lot in human capital, as a way of allowing the development of Angola and the continent in general.

This week, stressed the diplomat, 60 young Angolans are going to Belgium for training offered by the High Council of Diamonds of Antwerp and 23 for another training offered by the Technical Training Institute of the Port of Antwerp, as a way of raising Angolan human capital.

Jozet Smets also mentioned that the basis for doing business or investing in any country is often not just a question of the product, or even of money. It is, above all, a question of trust between people or businessmen.

“It is essential that Belgian businessmen and not only have confidence in the Angolan class and so on”, said the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Angola.

Mozambican businessman and activist, Joel William, also present at the 2nd edition of the International Youth Forum with Embassies, said that he is in Angola to strengthen partnerships in the business sector with Angolans.

Joel William, speaking of his experience as an activist and businessman, said that what is lacking in Africa for things to happen is just the union between cultural, political, religious, historical and even business differences.

Africa, he stressed, is the basis of many resources, but that however those who are enjoying it are not Africans, but other peoples from distant nations, stressing that we must end the conflicts that still plague many countries on the continent.

The 2nd edition of the International Youth Forum with the Embassies, in addition to debating the continent’s problems, was also an opportunity to honor the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in the category “Peace and Conflict Resolution in Africa”, for his commitment in the pacification of the Great Lakes region.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Angola was also distinguished with the “Friend of Africa” ​​category, for his contribution to the development of the continent and Angola in particular.

The International Youth Forum with Embassies takes place in the Agostinho Neto mausoleum and is attended by more than 800 people from Mozambique, Cape Verde, Portugal and the 18 provinces of Angola.
