Africa-Press – Angola. The former governor of Cuando Cubango, Manuel Dala, today defended the construction of a new Centrality in Menongue, capital of the province, with a view to providing housing conditions for employees, essentially young people.
The former governor of Cuando Cubango, who held office from 1995 to 1999, said it was a very worrying situation, as most of the 18 provinces have a centrality with more than 3,000 apartments, but that the old Menongue Centrality project, now with only eight buildings, it will not meet the needs of many who lack housing.
He was equally concerned about the unemployment rate, especially among young people, for whom there must be governmental and private policies that can solve the desideratum, in addition to defending the rehabilitation of the main roads that interconnect the municipalities, to improve circulation of people and goods, thus ensuring the expected development of the region.
He justified that these concerns have already been forwarded to the related departments of the central government, waiting only for quick responses from the execution of the projects, as Cuando Cubango is a province with its geographical specificities, whose attention should be redoubled.
Manuel Dala presented these concerns in statements to the press, at the end of the delivery act, at the headquarters of the local government, of 13 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles, to the municipal and municipal administrators, the Justice and Human Rights delegation, the king of Cuchi , queens of Calai and Dirico, among other state institutions.
The governor of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, said that the cars are part of the plan of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, to support the State’s local administration bodies, in that southeastern region of the country, taking into account the current difficult situation of the roads access where they are.
He recalled that Cuando Cubango has more than four (4) thousand kilometers that need rehabilitation, with asphalt and dirt, to leverage the development of the province, hence the “birth” of the project of its division in two, with a view to bringing together, increasingly, the services of the State to the population.
Without going into too much detail, José Martins assured that the state of recovery of the main communication routes is known to the Executive who, at any time, will activate mechanisms for this purpose.
He announced, on the occasion, the launch, on Friday night, of the new logo of the province, called “Cuando Cubango – Lands of Progress”, which aims to remove the region from the old pejorative nomenclature “Cuando Cubango, lands of the end of the World”.
He justified that the nomenclature gives a response and meaning to the delivery made today, by the government and the local population, for the development of Cuando Cubango in the economic domain, of infrastructures, among others.
Already this Saturday, informed the official, the local government will launch a program “Mamã Lift”, dedicated to women, as well as a tribute to the heroines highlighted in different branches for the desired development of that province
The program will focus on empowerment, encouraging women, especially heads of families who are unable to support their families, through empowerment with professional kits and other work material, creating income.
Former governors João Baptista Tchindandi (2002-2008), Eusébio de Brito Teixeira (2008-2012) and Pedro Mutindi (2016-2019) were invited to launch the logo, with 12 governors having already passed to Cuando Cubango.
