Africa-Press – Angola. Deputies of the National Assembly considered, this Monday, in Luanda, the message on the state of the Nation, delivered by the President of the Republic, which marks the opening of the 2023/2024 Parliamentary year, to be positive.
At the end of the solemn session of the V Legislature, Luísa Damião said it was a speech of hope and commitment, in which a set of actions were listed that also serve as guidelines for the assistants of the Holder of the Executive Power, taking into account aims to improve the living conditions of the population.
The MPLA deputy referred, above all, to issues linked to health, education, energy, increased agricultural production, road infrastructure, movement of people and goods, as well as the role that should be reserved for women and young people .
In his opinion, the implementation of the actions envisaged in the Head of State’s message will contribute to improving citizens’ living conditions in the near future.
“The President of the Republic came here to say that he remains committed to Angola and the Angolans, and listed a set of actions that, in fact, will help respond to the desires and aspirations of Angolans. I noticed that he is also concerned about improving conditions from the point of view of purchasing power,” he said.
The deputy praised, on the other hand, the policy of encouraging and protecting private investment, having expressed the willingness of this political formation to support businesspeople to have such an incentive to make their contribution to the country’s development in various sectors.
According to Luísa Damião, the State, in itself, cannot do everything, which is why business performance is necessary.
In turn, deputy Benedito Daniel, from PRS, said that the message lived up to expectations, in that it reviewed the country’s pressing issues and in it the Head of State made essential recommendations.
For him, it covered a little of everything he expected, in terms of social, economic and geopolitical issues, although the issue concerning the current way of life of the populations was not explored in depth.
Still, he highlighted, he focused on what is being done to minimize the situation, especially in the areas of health, employment, economy and infrastructure, which is encouraging.
“We believe that what was expected was addressed, in more or less depth”, he highlighted, emphasizing that satisfaction is relative, depending on each individual’s thinking.
It also corroborates the opinion of a hopeful message, the leader of the Theosophical Spiritist Church of Angola, prophesies Suzete João, having highlighted the fact that the President of the Republic has recognized that the country’s current situation is not easy, but that everything is being done in order to go beyond the framework.
According to the nun, the President is sensitive to all the country’s concerns and left a message of hope in many areas of the country.
He appealed, however, for the contribution of all the living forces of the nation, pointing out the rescue of civic and moral values as one of the areas of society in which the work of this religious institution can affect.
However, the leader of the UNITA Parliamentary Group, Liberty Chiaca, and politician Manuel Fernandes, from CASA-CE, expressed opposing positions, as they consider that the message about the state of the nation does not indicate solutions to the main problems the country is experiencing.
For Manuel Fernandes, there are a series of expectations that were not satisfied in the speech, such as, for example, issues of salary increases and concrete data on the replacement of the population’s purchasing capacity.
Liberty Chiaca talks, among others, about problems of hunger and drought in the south of the country.
