Africa-Press – Angola. The Soyo port company, in the province of Zaire, intends this year to increase the package of social projects to support local communities, within the scope of its social responsibility policy.
According to its chairman of the board of directors, Fernando Dias, the focus will be on building schools, health posts, homes for the elderly, among other social projects.
The manager said he was working with the Municipal Administration of Soyo to draw up a consistent program in this regard.
The aim is to expand the impact of the company’s social actions to a new dimension, rather than limiting itself only to social charity actions, according to the source.
“That of giving two or three million to an institution, is not much more relevant these days than building, for example, a school, daycare center or home for the elderly, which last forever”, he asserted.
Fernando Dias was speaking at the end of a visit to verify the rehabilitation works of some urban roads in the city of Soyo.
They are benefiting from sidewalks, curbs and technical networks for rainwater drainage and public lighting, a project initiated by the Municipal Administration, with financial support from the port company of Soyo and other social partners.
On the occasion, the person in charge expressed his satisfaction with the level of physical execution of the works, for whom this dynamic will determine the continuity of funding for future actions in the municipality.
The Port of Soyo exists since 1980.
