Africa-Press – Angola. Hearings, inaugurations and congratulations, among other activities, carried out by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, marked the political news over the last seven days.
In congratulatory messages to his counterparts, on celebrating their national days, from Turkey, Recep Erdoğan, and from the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, the Angolan statesman reiterated Angola’s desire to strengthen cooperation with these two countries.
On the other hand, João Lourenço received, in audience, the leader of the company Tosyali Holding, Fuat Tosyali, with whom he discussed aspects related to the Cassinga mining project (Huíla province).
He also granted, as special envoy, an audience to the Sahrawi Statesman’s advisor, Mohamed Salek, who delivered a message from the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Brahim Ghali, focused on strengthening relations between the two countries.
In the same week, he inaugurated the new vice-governors of Luanda, for the Economic sector, Jorge Miguêns Augusto, of Malanje, for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Franco Cazembe Mufinda, and of Namibe for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Abel do Rosário Kapitango.
On the occasion, he encouraged the three new managers to contribute to the diversification of the national economy and the country’s socioeconomic development.
Note also, for the verification visit, by the Head of State, to the expansion and modernization works of Hospital do Prenda, one of the main units in the sector, located in the country’s capital.
Also noteworthy was the announcement of the holding, in the city of Luanda, of an extraordinary summit, at the highest level, of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The information was provided by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, after an exceptional virtual meeting, convened by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, in his capacity as president of the organization.
The delivery by the Executive, to the National Assembly (AN), of the proposed General State Budget (OGE) for 2024, which provides for a salary increase in the public sector of around 5 percent, marked the week.
The OGE 2024 proposal, delivered by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Lima Massano, to the president of AN, Carolina Cerqueira, includes estimated revenues of 24 billion Kwanzas and expenses set at the same amount.
The economic projections for the next financial year were calculated based on an average price per barrel of oil of USD 65.00 and an average daily oil production of 1 million and sixty thousand barrels.
On the other hand, the Council of Ministers assessed the General State Budget Execution Report for the Third Quarter of 2023.
Regarding the report, the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, said that revenue valued at 3.42 billion Kwanzas was collected and expenses worth 3.76 billion Kwanzas were incurred.
The news of the participation of the president of the Supreme Court (TS), Joel Leonardo, in the 24th International Conference of the World’s Chief Justices, taking place from the 1st to the 7th of November, in Lucknow, India, was another headline in the political news .
