Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, sent a message to his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa, congratulating the people and the Government of Zimbabwe on 44 years of Independence, marked last Thursday.

“On this day of such important historical significance for your nation and all others in our region, I join you and your compatriots in celebrating a historic feat that honors us as Africans and demonstrated to the world the irreproachable strength of our solidarity, essential characteristic of the fraternal ties that unite us”, wrote the Angolan Head of State in the letter.

The Angolan Head of State also added that April 18th is also an opportunity to remember and honor the memory of those who made sacrifices without hesitation so that “we can live free today”.

This precious memory, expressed the President, “constitutes a common good that we must preserve and value, as the foundation of our identity and intangible heritage to be passed on to future generations”.

Angola and Zimbabwe have cooperated in political, diplomatic and economic fields since 1982.
