Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received, this Thursday, the Venezuelan ambassador to Angola, Marlon Jose Penha Labrador, with whom he discussed the state of relations between the two countries.
Upon leaving the audience, the Venezuelan diplomat told the press that the meeting also served to say goodbye to the Head of State, at the end of his five-year mission in Angola.
On the occasion, the diplomat praised the role of the Angolan statesman in the pacification of the Great Lakes region and Africa in general.
He said he had informed the President of the Republic about the preparations for the presidential elections in his country, scheduled for next July.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is a country located in the North of South America, with a total area of 916,445 kilometers. It has a mixed economy, based on the market dominated by oil, which accounts for around a third of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Since 2005, Venezuela has maintained full diplomatic relations with the African continent, where Angola is considered one of the most important partners.
Relations between the two countries were boosted by the visit of the then President of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, to Angola, in August 2006.
