Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, rejoiced this Friday at the agricultural potential of Uíge province, as part of his visit to the agricultural and livestock fair that exposes the region’s potential in this field.

“The visit we just made to the fair showed that Dom Caetano (musician), after all, is right, our floor gives everything, it is a matter of commitment, of work and we will be able to feed our people”, he maintained. .

At the fair, in addition to agricultural products, the President said that he left satisfied with the fact that he saw very good initiatives by young people “in the technological field which, if well used and disseminated to the rest of the country, we can only gain”.

“I am referring, for example, to something that I never imagined it could be possible to produce, crackers made from cassava flour, and we saw it here with our own eyes and, in principle, we are going to support this young man to see if this experience can be taken over by other provinces”, he pointed out.

President João Lourenço informed, on the other hand, that in the meeting with the provincial government, “it was possible to verify that the projects that are foreseen are moving forward”.

President João Lourenço, who was accompanied by the vice-president of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, provincial governors and ministerial department holders, toured, in about an hour, the agricultural fair that exposes the potential of the 16 municipalities from Uíge.

Among the products on display, highlights include bananas, beans, pineapple, oranges, passion fruit, soy milk, sesame, kikuanga, Arabica coffee, Bata-rena, lunguila (traditional drink), pumpkin and gitsombe (a kind of catato).

In the same place, President João Lourenço delivered vehicles to the municipal administrations of Puri, Damba, Songo, Mucaba and Sanza Pombo.

With more than one million inhabitants, the province of Uíge has 16 municipalities, namely Ambuíla, Bembe, Buengas, Bungo, Damba, Alto Cauale, Maquela do Zombo, Milunga, Mucaba, Negage, Puri, Quimbele, Quitexe, Sanza Pombo, Songo and Uíge.

Agriculture and trade are key sectors in Uíge, which was once considered the coffee capital of Angola.
