Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received, this Wednesday, an invitation to visit Côte d’Ivoire, as part of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The invitation was formalized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, Leon Adom Kacou Houadja, during an audience granted to him by the Angolan Head of State.

Speaking to the press, upon leaving the meeting, the Ivorian minister made it known that the Angolan President was supposed to pay a visit to that country, which did not happen, so a trip is being prepared for soon.

In this context, he said he was working with his Angolan Foreign Affairs counterpart to ensure that the visit takes place in the coming days.

He informed that they are working on the legal documents that should be signed during the meeting between the two heads of state.

Regional and international policy issues are also on the cooperation agenda.

He said that President Alassane Ouattara is enthusiastic about the level of cooperation between the two countries and hopes that it can be increased.

He highlighted the position that the two countries occupy, Angola in Southern Africa and Côte d ́Ivoire in West Africa, and the role they can play in boosting the African continent.

Signing of agreements

Meanwhile, Angola and Côte d’Ivoire signed Wednesday, several instruments to strengthen cooperation in various areas.

These are protocols that will raise the level of relations in the Interior, Territorial Administration, Tourism, Telecommunications, Information and Social Communication Technologies, Health, Culture, Environment, Higher Education and Education sectors..

The signing took place during the 1st session of the Bilateral Cooperation Commission between Angola and Cote D’Ivoire, which evaluated ongoing projects between the two countries, as well as reviewing the agreements in force and the constraints for materializing the commitments assumed between the parts.

The documents were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Téte António and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African and Ivorian Integration Abroad of the Republic of Côte d ́Ivoire, Léon Kacou Adom.
