Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, swore in, this Monday, newly appointed staff of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), to whom he wished success in carrying out their respective duties.

At the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, the Angolan Head of State swore in the BNA deputy governors, Manuel António Tiago Dias, as well as Pedro Rodrigo Gonçalves de Castro e Silva.

The administrators Maria Juliana de Carvalho Van-Dúnem de Fontes Pereira, as well as Miguel Bartolomeu Miguel, also took office at the same ceremony.

“To those sworn in, I would just like to wish many successes in the performance of the functions that they will assume from today”, expressed President João Lourenço, on the occasion.

Speaking to the press at the end of the ceremony, the deputy governor of the BNA, Tiago Castro e Silva, said that one of the bets is to continue the policies implemented by the Central Bank for five years.

He said that these were policies aimed at macroeconomic stability, with a focus on controlling inflation.

As Central Bank and issuer, the BNA’s main functions are to ensure the preservation of the value of the national currency and to participate in the definition of monetary, financial and exchange rate policies.

The BNA is responsible for implementing, monitoring and controlling monetary, exchange rate and credit policies, managing the payment system and administering the currency within the scope of the country’s economic policy.
