Africa-Press – Angola. Prenda Hospital, in Luanda, performs an average of 250 to 255 dialysis sessions per day, establishing itself as one of the main reference units in the treatment of kidney failure in Angola.
Dialysis is a medical treatment that filters the blood, removing waste, toxins, salt, and excess water when the kidneys are not functioning properly, simulating kidney function.
In statements, the director-general of the institution, Tomás Cassinda, stated that the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the urinary system, mainly the kidneys, is one of the unit’s main strategic areas.
In assessing the hospital’s operation, he recalled that “nephrology” is one of the chronic non-communicable diseases that most pressure health services.
According to the official, Prenda Hospital is a specialized medical-surgical unit that knows the epidemiological profile of patients, allowing for effective planning, especially during periods of higher demand.
He said that in 2025 the supply of medicines and consumable materials was reinforced to ensure the continuity of treatments, including dialysis, as well as to respond to cases of trauma, strokes, infectious diseases and hypoglycemia associated with food and alcohol poisoning.
