Africa-Press – Angola. One hundred and 35 disadvantaged families residing in the city of Ondjiva, Cunene province, are assisted monthly with basic food baskets, within the scope of the project to enhance and strengthen family skills, developed by the Presbyterian Church.

The information was provided this Thursday by the pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Cunene, Verney Tchipiquita, stressing that the church’s social action benefits a household of 360 people, with the attribution of essential products such as corn flour, rice, sugar, oil , salt, beans, soap, among others.

According to the prelate, the intention is to allow these families to have guaranteed food and ensure their diet for 15 days of the month.

Verney Tchipiquita said that the church, as a social partner of the State, is committed to supporting disadvantaged families in order to reduce people’s food shortages, taking into account the situation of drought and hunger that has plagued the region in recent years.

Alongside the delivery of basic food baskets, he said that the institution has a community kitchen, a project developed by the church’s auxiliary society that serves the community daily by offering meals to people in need, with particular emphasis on children and the elderly.

He also explained that there is a community pharmacy for the free delivery of various medicines to families with sick people, as well as training in sewing and sewing.

The Presbyterian Church of Angola is a reformed Protestant denomination, created in 1984, based on a cooperation agreement with the Church of Brazil.
