Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Panama, Cândida Teixeira, provided local businessmen with information on the ongoing business environment in Angola on Saturday.
During a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of that country, the diplomat emphasized the establishment of new principles and general bases for private investment, which establish the benefits and facilities for investors and the access criteria, as well as the rights, duties and guarantees from private investors.
The Angolan ambassador to Cuba and the Dominican Republic has as one of the priority points on her agenda in Panama an offensive with State and private institutions to leverage and strengthen ties of cooperation between the two States.
For his part, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama, Adolfo Fabregas, expressed his interest in a more fruitful cooperation with Angola and conveyed his desire to have, in March 2024, an Angolan representation at Expocomer, one of the most prestigious trade events in the region, which takes place every year.
The multisector trade exhibition highlights the categories of food, transport and logistics, textiles, construction, technology, energy, chemicals and services, among others.
The chamber is made up of more than 1,600 companies classified in 15 sectors of the national economy.
The diplomat, who is accompanied by the Defense Attaché, Tomás Imperial, and the first secretary, Hélio dos Santos, also visited two of the most prestigious universities in Panama. These are the specialized University of the Americas, UDELAS, and Tecnológica de Panamá. The last one has two Angolan students in its student body. In both institutions, the parties expressed their interest in promoting the exchange of students and professors from Angola and Panama.
The status of a transit country made Panama a meeting point for cultures from around the world from an early age.
Panama is a country that connects Central and South America. The country is the geographic setting for the Panama Canal, a work that facilitates communication between the coasts of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and that significantly influences world trade. Around 14,000 ships from approximately 160 different nations pass through that channel every year.
