Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State João Lourenço on Tuesday, in Luanda, appointed Fausta Raul Muzumbi as Director-General of the Financial Information Unit (UIF).
According to the Press Office of the Presidency, through another document, President João Lourenço dismissed Gilberto Moisés Moma Capeça from his position as Director-General of the same institution.
The UIF is the main state body with the task of preventing and combating money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
It has the authority to receive and analyze reports of suspicious transactions submitted by financial institutions and other entities, produce financial intelligence reports, and forward information to the competent authorities whenever there are indications of illicit activity.
The Financial Information Unit, also cooperates with national and international bodies to safeguard the integrity, stability, and security of the national financial system.
