Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan national senior men’s basketball team arrived in Egypt on Tuesday for the second round of qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar, according to a note from the Angolan Embassy in Egypt, Tuesday in Luanda.
In this phase, which will take place in Borg Al Arab, 52 kilometers from Alexandria, the ten-time African champions are in Group D. They will face Uganda on Thursday, Egypt on Saturday, and Mali on March 1.
Coached by Spaniard Pep Clarós, the team arrived in high spirits, confident they will win all three matches. These games are considered decisive for advancing to the next stage of the qualifiers.
The qualification criteria for the final phase in Qatar stipulate that the three best teams from each group (A, B, C, and D), totaling 12, will advance to the third round, which will take place from June 29 to July 7.
The results obtained in this phase are valid for the next stage, so each team must accumulate the best possible record for the final round.
The remaining teams will then be divided into two new groups of six teams for the fourth window, which will take place from August 24 to September 1.
The top five teams at this stage will secure their place at the World Cup in Qatar, which will take place from August 27 to September 12, 2027.
