Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President João Lourenço on was distinguished in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with the grand prize ‘The Africa Road Builders – Babacar Ndiaye Trophy’.
A note from the Press Services of the Presidency of the Republic received informs that this is an award that distinguishes African leaders for their commitment to the development of regional strategic infrastructures.
It states that the distinction of the Angolan President is due to the advances in the Lobito Corridor, the construction of the new Dr. Agostinho Neto International Airport, among other projects.
The Angolan Minister of Planning, Victor Hugo Guilherme, who received the award on behalf of the President of the Republic, highlighted the efforts of the Head of State in promoting infrastructures that promote local development and regional integration.
‘This recognition is an incentive that will motivate Angola and its leadership to continue with greater dedication and enthusiasm in overcoming the following challenges. We are convinced that sustainable and equitable development will only be possible if we work together, sharing knowledge, resources and efforts,’ said the minister.
He added that Angola is creating solutions to local problems, but also focusing on regional integration, especially in the field of railways, roads and clean electricity.
The African Development Bank, which provides institutional support to the organization, argues that transport routes and associated services are as important as agriculture and education, as they are part of the value chain of promoting the improvement of people’s lives and the economic development of countries.
